LELAND, Miss.–With damage reported from Monday’s storms in Grenada County and Byhalia, a third day of severe weather brings with it the strongest threat so far this week.
“We kind of have a lot of threats going on,” said National Weather Service Forecaster Ashlyn Jackson, of Wednesday’s possible severe storms. “We’re looking at a pretty strong line of storms that’s gonna move through the area late morning into the early evening.”
Jackson said the threats include strong winds and hail and possibly strong tornadoes. The greatest chance for tornadoes is in the southern part of the Delta, and to the south. But, the threat for flooding is significant. That includes both flash flooding and river flooding because of the amount of rainfall expected.
“We could get at least five to seven inches of additional rainfall,” she said.
In Byhalia, storms caused damage at a trailer park Monday. In Grenada County power lines were blown down when a storm moved through Monday, causing phone interruptions, as well, that included the county’s 911 system. It is operational again, according to the Grenada County Sheriff’s dept.
