MEMPHIS, TN (455 AM CST Sat Jan 11 2020) — The National Weather Service in Memphis has issued a Severe Thunderstorm Warning for Western Lafayette County in northwestern Mississippi Yalobusha County in northwestern Mississippi Northwestern Calhoun County in northeastern Mississippi Southwestern Marshall County in northwestern Mississippi Southeastern Tunica County in northwestern Mississippi Southern Tate County in northwestern Mississippi Eastern Tallahatchie County in northwestern Mississippi Panola County in northwestern Mississippi until 545 AM CST. At 454 AM CST, severe thunderstorms were located along a line extending from near Little Texas to near Batesville to near Paynes, moving northeast at 50 mph. HAZARD: 70 mph wind gusts. SOURCE: Radar indicated. Expect considerable tree damage. Damage is likely to mobile homes, roofs, and outbuildings. Locations impacted include Oxford, Senatobia, Holly Springs, Batesville, Water Valley, Charleston, George Payne State Park, Holly Springs National Forest, Wall Doxey State Park, John W Kyle State Park, Sardis, Como, Coffeeville, Crenshaw, Pope, Enid, Paynes, Pleasant Grove, Harmontown and Velma. A Tornado Watch remains in effect until 700 AM CST for northwestern Mississippi. A Tornado Watch also remains in effect until 1000 AM CST for northeastern and northwestern Mississippi. For your protection move to an interior room on the lowest floor of a building. Torrential rainfall is occurring with these storms, and may lead to flash flooding. Do not drive your vehicle through flooded roadways.
