MEMPHIS, TN (443 PM CDT Sun Jun 21 2020) — The National Weather Service in Memphis has issued a Severe Thunderstorm Warning for Southern Phillips County in eastern Arkansas Coahoma County in northwestern Mississippi Northwestern Tallahatchie County in northwestern Mississippi Southwestern Quitman County in northwestern Mississippi until 530 PM CDT. At 443 PM CDT, severe thunderstorms were located along a line extending from 7 miles west of White River National Wildlife Refuge to 8 miles southwest of Dublin, moving northeast at 15 mph. HAZARD: 60 mph wind gusts and quarter size hail. SOURCE: Radar indicated. Hail damage to vehicles is expected. Expect wind damage to roofs, siding, and trees. Locations impacted include Clarksdale, Elaine, White River National Wildlife Refuge, Tutwiler, Dublin, Vance, Sherard, Crumrod, Lake View, Lyon, Mattson, Rena Lara, Mosby Spur, Ferguson, Counts, Wabash, Modoc, Denton, Hoop Spur and Beverly. For your protection move to an interior room on the lowest floor of a building. Large hail and damaging winds and continuous cloud to ground lightning is occurring with these storms. Move indoors immediately. Lightning is one of nature’s leading killers. Remember, if you can hear thunder, you are close enough to be struck by lightning.
