On September 26, 2024, Bolivar County Sheriff deputies responded to a distress call regarding a stabbing incident at 416 Martin Luther King Drive, Apt 1734, in Mound Bayou. Arriving at the scene around 5:30 am, deputies discovered a male, later identified as 35-year-old Jerrell Bishop, lying deceased in the grass outside the apartment. He succumbed to a fatal stab wound to the neck.
Lucas Williams, 62, also of Mound Bayou, has been charged with Bishop’s murder. He is currently being held at the Bolivar County Regional Correctional Facility, awaiting his initial court appearance
