GREENVILLE, Miss. — Two people were arrested following a residential burglary investigation Wednesday morning in Greenville, according to the Greenville Police Department.
Officers responded at about 8:51 a.m. Sept. 30 to a residence in the 1100 block of Burns Street after receiving a report of a burglary. Police said the residence was undergoing renovations and that unauthorized individuals were believed to be inside.
Officers entered the residence and located Joshua Bruins, who was taken into custody without incident, police said. During a subsequent search of the residence, officers located a second person, identified as Tabitha Knight, hiding inside a bedroom closet. Knight was also taken into custody.
According to police, officers recovered suspected controlled substances associated with Knight during the investigation. Police said Knight initially provided officers with a different identity but was later positively identified.
Bruins was charged with house burglary and trespassing, according to police.
Knight was charged with house burglary, trespassing, providing false information and possession of controlled substances.
The Greenville Police Department’s Criminal Investigation Division and Special Operations Division are continuing the investigation.
