SHARKEY COUNTY, Miss.–Both deaths from this week’s winter storm were in the Delta. The second death was announced Wednesday by the Mississippi Emergency Management Agency. That person died in Sharkey County.
The agency was not specific about any identifying factors, but said that the person died from “the extreme cold”.
The first death attributed to the cold was Sunday night south of Silver City when a person was hit and killed on a bridge as they were looking at their vehicle that had been in a crash.
Police said a white F250 drove away from the scene and law enforcement is still on the lookout
