A World AIDS Day Awareness Walk will be held Saturday, December 4, 2021, in Shaw, MS. From 10 a.m.-2 p.m., individuals and families will walk 2.5 miles to raise awareness regarding the impact of HIV/AIDS. The walk will be held at the Walking Trail, located at 211 White Oak Street, Shaw MS.
In addition to the walk, there will be free food, live music, and giveaways. HIV screenings and COVID-19 vaccines will be available, also. The theme for World AIDS Day is End Inequalities. End AIDS. End Pandemics.
During World AIDS Day, people throughout the world unite to show support for those impacted by HIV and those who lost their lives due to AIDS. The Institute for the Advancement of Minority Health was established in 2019 to reduce health disparities among disadvantaged and underserved minority populations in the Mississippi through the development of collaborative partnerships with community stakeholders and the implementation of evidence-based public health interventions with a particular focus on health equity.
