DREW, Miss.–Two suspects were captured and one is dead after a triple homicide that happened in Drew and was discovered Thursday morning.
Authorities have been reluctant to release much information about the killings. The victims are all three female and are two girls and their mother. In a statement to reporter Drew Mayor Melanie Townsend-Blackmon identified the victims as Aquilla Wallace, 40, and her two daughters Borneisha, 18 and Kamaya Sims, 19.
A cause and manner of death were not discussed publicly.
While the Mississippi Bureau of Investigation was collecting evidence at the crime scene, information was obtained pointing to suspects being in the Rome community, along Hwy. 49 near Parchman.
The Sunflower County Sheriff’s Dept., and other agencies were able to capture two people.
When a third suspect was surrounded, that person shot themselves.
Law enforcement immediately initiated life-saving procedures and that suspect was flown to the University of Mississippi Medical Center, where he died shortly before 3 p.m., according to Sunflower County Coroner Heather Burton.
They were not able to talk to that suspect before he drew his weapon and fired. No suspect names were released as of Thursday.
