On Friday, April 7, 2023, at approximately 11:10 p.m., the Bolivar County Sheriff’s Department received a call about a juvenile being shot at 900 White Street Building 7C in Cleveland, MS. Deputies arrived on the scene to find 14-year-old Aareonia Thompson of Cleveland, MS with a single gunshot wound to the head. Sadly, she was pronounced dead at the scene.
The suspect in this case, Jaqavious Booth, fled the scene before the arrival of deputies. However, Booth, an 18-year-old from Rosedale, MS, turned himself in to the Bolivar County Sheriff’s Office the following day. Booth is being charged with murder and is being held at the Bolivar County Regional Facility, awaiting his initial appearance in court.
