In a distressing turn of events, the Bolivar County Sheriff’s Office responded to a distress call on July 13, 2023, at approximately 5:23 p.m., reporting an alleged rape incident. The incident brought authorities to Bolivar Medical Center, where they immediately investigated the matter.
According to the initial reports, the victim was allegedly subjected to Statutory Rape, leading to swift action by law enforcement officials. Deputies and Investigators promptly arrived at the scene to collect evidence and interview witnesses.
During the investigation, the authorities identified the suspect as 34-year-old Martell Weatherspoon, hailing from Winstonville, Mississippi. Law enforcement officers acted promptly, apprehending Weatherspoon in connection with the alleged crime.
Subsequently, Martell Weatherspoon was taken into custody and is now being held at the Bolivar County Regional Correctional Jail. A substantial bond of $250,000 has been set to secure his release.
