Ban on Utility Cut-offs Extended to 60-days

JACKSON, MS (Ben Caxton) — The Mississippi Public Service Commission has extended its ban on utility companies cutting off water, sewer, natural gas or electricity service for 60 days for customers who are unable to pay to city-run utilities not normally under its jurisdiction. The PSC is working with the Mississippi Municipal League to disseminate the order to all cities in the state but reminds everyone that utility services aren’t free. Customers are reminded to continue to paying their bills or make arrangements so that they won’t face a lump sum bill after the health crisis ends.
