The beginning of the 2023-2024 school year marks a new chapter in the history of Greenville High School as they warmly welcome Mr. Barren Cleark to lead as the institution’s new principal. With a distinguished educational background and a dedication to student success, the entire school community meets Mr. Cleark’s appointment with enthusiasm.
A Clarksdale, MS native, Mr. Cleark’s journey in education began at Mississippi Valley State University, where he obtained a Bachelor of Science in Biology in 2003. He continued his academic pursuits at Edinboro University, graduating with a Master of Science in Educational Leadership in 2013. Demonstrating his commitment to lifelong learning and continuous improvement, Mr. Cleark is currently pursuing a Doctorate of Education at the esteemed University of Mississippi.
Mr. Cleark’s passion for education and his love for students has been evident throughout his career. Starting as a Biology I and 8th Grade Science teacher in 2006, he developed a profound connection with his students and a desire to influence more lives positively. This drive led him to take on administrative roles, first serving as an Assistant Principal and later becoming Principal at various schools over the past eight years.
In addition to his extensive educational background, Mr. Cleark has undergone specialized training through the Mississippi School Board’s Association Prospective Superintendent’s Academy and the National Institute of School Leaders. Furthermore, he is a 2001 initiate of the prestigious Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc., and serves as a charter member of the Greenwood-Grenada Alumni chapter.
