YAZOO COUNTY, MS (Ben Caxton) — a 59-year-old Benton woman is dead today after a Tuesday traffic accident on Highway 16 in Yazoo County. The crash happened just before 11:00 AM near the Big Black River in Yazoo County. According to the Mississippi Highway Patrol, a Chevrolet Silverado was traveling eastbound when it collided with a westbound Nissan Maxima. The driver of the Maxima, Betty Brister of Benton, died from her injuries. Troopers said she was wearing her seatbelt at the time of the crash. The driver of the other vehicle, who was not wearing seat restraints, was taken to the University of Mississippi Medical Center in Jackson with unknown injuries.
