Biloxi Police have arrested the man involved in the police chase that ended on Hwy 49.

GULFPORT, Miss. (Ben Caxton) – Authorities arrested 34-year-old Michael Lane on September 16, 2020 and charged him with felony eluding, and theft of a motor vehicle.

Biloxi Police responded to information around 3:30 p.m. that a vehicle was reported stolen on the 2100 block of Beach Blvd. Lane was found traveling east in the truck on Beach Blvd, but while trying to stop him, he fled, according to authorities.

Authorities then followed Lane toward Hwy 49, and that’s where he went around sheriff deputies’ cars on the Hwy 49 north ramp. Once on Hwy 49, deputies forced him off the road and into the ditch.

Lane would not get out of the truck, so non-lethal shots were fired to break the back window. He was then taken to the hospital to be checked out by medical personnel, according to officials.

The chase ended just off Highway 49 near Landon Road in Gulfport.
