Bolivar County Native Appointed as State Fire Coordinator

CLEVELAND, Miss.–The new state fire coordinator is from Bolivar County. The appointment of Reed Abraham, was announced this week by the state fire marshal’s office.
Some of his duties include overseeing the readiness and capability of over 800 fire departments across Mississippi, ensuring they are well-equipped to safeguard lives and property. He will oversee the fire safety education program and will administer the Rural Fire Truck Acquisition Assistance Program (RFTAAP), among other duties, according to a news release.
Abraham is a certified volunteer firefighter and retired last year as deputy Bolivar County fire chief. His main career has been in higher education administration.
“I am delighted to appoint Reed to this crucial position within the State Fire Marshal’s Office,” said Commissioner of Insurance and State Fire Marshal Mike Chaney. “Reed’s dedication to the safety and well-being of Mississippi’s communities, combined with his extensive experience, makes him an excellent choice for this leadership role.”
