Mayor Errick D. Simmons and Program Coordinator Kyla Rice of Greenville attended the African American Mayors Association Conference 2023 in Washington, D.C. from April 19th to April 21st, where they received a grant to enhance the City of Greenville FoodCorps program.
The conference focused on a variety of topics aimed at educating local government leaders about how to improve their communities. There were panel discussions, meetings, and press conferences surrounding climate change, health, infrastructure, public safety, community revitalization, voting rights, and civic engagement.
Mayors and staff from all over the country attended the conference and had the opportunity to network with major companies while encouraging one another to continue advocating for their cities.
During the conference, the City of Greenville was awarded a $75,000 Nutrition Access Affordability and Education Grant to enhance the City of Greenville FoodCorps program.
