CLARKSDALE, Miss.–Two people were murdered this week in Clarksdale and police are still trying to solve one of them. One happened New Year’s Eve, and the other on the first day of 2024.
Demetrius Curtis, 36, died just after 3 p.m. Sunday. He was found shot to death in the street at the intersection of 7th St. and Leflore Ave. Police say he was shot several times and witnesses said it happened during an argument. No arrests have been announced.
Deshara Smith was found shot on a kitchen floor just after 3 Monday morning when police were called to the house on Lynn St. They arrested her boyfriend, Marquel Miles.
Miles was in the Coahoma County Jail awaiting his first court date.
