STARKVILLE, MS (Ben Caxton) — A Tuesday night crash on Oktibbeha County sent three Mississippi State students, including two football players to the hospital. The Mississippi Highway Patrol says that a Nissan Altima driven by red-shirt freshman safety J.P. Purvis crashed into the back of an 18-wheeler truck on Highway 25 around 7:00 PM after practice. Also in the car was player De’Monte Russell along with 18-yar-old Xavier Taylor who does not play for the Bulldogs. All three were taken to the hospital after the accident. Russel was treated and released. The University says that Purvis is “resting comfortably” in the hospital but were unable to comment on Taylor’s condition. Mississippi State will face Louisville in the Music City Bowl in Nashville on December 30.
