On Sunday, November 5, at 9:30 p.m., the Bolivar County Sheriff’s Department received multiple calls of shots fired on Preston Street in Benoit. When deputies arrived on the scene, they discovered a shooting had occurred in the roadway in front of the Post Office. Two males were shot and transported by a private vehicle to Delta Health System Medical Center in Greenville for treatment. They are listed in stable condition.
Then, on Monday (November 6), at approximately 7:35 p.m., Bolivar County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to the area of 109 Adams Street in Benoit about shots being fired. Upon arrival, deputies found John Henry Taylor (70) had been shot multiple. He was pronounced dead. The motive is unknown at this time.
