WASHINGTON COUNTY, Miss. – A tragic collision on Saturday, August 10, 2024, claimed the lives of two individuals on Highway 61 in Washington County. Around 8:30 p.m., a Chevrolet Cruze driven by Vertisay Johnson of Greenville was traveling southbound when it collided with a northbound Honda CR-V driven by Asif Mahmood of Clinton.
Both drivers sustained fatal injuries and were pronounced dead at the scene. The Mississippi Highway Patrol is currently investigating the cause of the crash.
