CLEVELAND, MS, MS (Ben Caxton) — Kappi Allen, former director of Coahoma County Tourism, pled guilty to embezzlement last week in Cleveland. The plea means there will be no trial and she will be sentenced at a later date. The maximum sentence is 20 years in prison or a $25,000 fine. Allen resigned from the tourism office two years ago as the state auditor began an investigation. She was charged with embezzling over $93,000.
