Greenville Man Arrested After Confrontation with Police

A Greenville man is under arrest and facing serious charges following a confrontation with law enforcement on August 3rd, 2023. The incident occurred in the 600 block of Washington Ave.

According to authorities from the Greenville Police Department, officers responded to a call reporting a suspicious individual in the area. Upon their arrival, the male suspect attempted to evade capture, resulting in a foot pursuit by law enforcement officers.

During the chase, the suspect turned towards the officers, showing a handgun. Law enforcement swiftly apprehended the suspect, identified as 39-year-old Charles Thomas II, a resident of Greenville.

Thomas has been charged with three counts of Felony Attempt to Commit an Offense. He was taken into custody and transported to the Washington County Regional Correctional Facility. The suspect now awaits his initial court appearance as legal proceedings continue.
