Bobby Buchanan, a 44-year-old resident of Greenville, was sentenced to over five years in prison for drug trafficking and illegal firearm possession.
According to court documents, Buchanan had previously pled guilty to one count of distribution of narcotics and one count of possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. The narcotics charge arose from Buchanan’s sale of 100 ecstasy pills to a confidential informant. At the time of his arrest on drug charges, Buchanan, who is a prior convicted felon, was found in possession of a handgun. As a result, he was subsequently charged with possession of a firearm by a prohibited person.
United States District Judge Glen Davidson sentenced Buchanan to 67 months in prison. Upon his release from prison, Buchanan will serve a three-year term of supervision. Following the sentencing, Buchanan was immediately remanded to the custody of the U.S. Marshals.
