GREENVILLE, Miss. — The city of Greenville will mark Juneteenth with a four-day celebration from June 19 to 22, honoring veterans and African American heritage with a series of community-focused events.
Organized by the Local Organizing Committee of Mississippi, the celebration kicks off on Wednesday, June 19, with a flag-raising ceremony at noon at Greenville City Hall, located at 340 Main Street.
On Thursday, June 20, a Juneteenth Pageant will take place at Cee Bee’s Banquet Hall, 136 Walnut Street, starting at 7 p.m.
The highlight of the weekend is the Juneteenth Parade and Festival on Friday, June 21, with a ribbon-cutting ceremony on Historical Nelson Street beginning at 9:30 a.m. The event will include food vendors, entertainment, and a special performance by the musical group “Variety.” Admission is free.
The festivities conclude Sunday, June 22, with a commemorative service at Mt. Horeb Baptist Church at 524 Nelson Street beginning at 11 a.m.
