GREENWOOD, MS (Ben Caxton) — Greenwood isn’t taking in enough money in taxes to pay its bills. That was the word presented to the council Tuesday by Mayor Carolyn McAdams who said this year’s budget shortfall will reach $225,000 – the biggest since she’s been in office. Chief culprits were a number of unbudgeted big-ticket expenses in 2019 according to the mayor, including hiring a law firm to study the Greenwood Leflore Hospital, and a several serious employee illnesses.
