CLEVELAND, Miss.  — Delta State University is gearing up to celebrate a significant achievement within its Commercial Aviation Department. The university will recognize the first ten students to graduate with an Agricultural Aviation Operations Career Pathway Certification during a ceremony on June 2 at 1:00 p.m. The event will take place at the DSU airport hangar, located at 1001 Airport Road in Cleveland. Distinguished guest Mississippi Senator Cindy Hyde-Smith will deliver the keynote address, making it an occasion to remember. The university extends a warm welcome to all members of the media, inviting them to attend and cover the event.

The Agricultural Aviation Operations Career Pathway Certification represents a remarkable accomplishment for these ten students. It signifies their successful completion of a comprehensive training program that includes various crucial components. To obtain this certification, students must have fulfilled requirements such as hazmat training, FAA instrument flight certification, FAA commercial certification, tailwheel endorsement, and a minimum of 100 flight hours. Within those hours, they must have dedicated 25 hours to light bar training in a Citibria, an additional 25 hours to light bar aerial application in an AG Wagon (C-188), and ten hours for type-rating and aerial application in an Air Tractor 802.
