INDIANOLA, MS (Ben Caxton) — The death of an Indianola last week appears to have been the result of an attempted burglary. The body of 28-year-old Travis Shaw was found around 6:00 AM Friday morning in a ditch near the intersection of Wiggins Road and Garrard Avenue near the entrance of the Royal Oaks Apartment where Shaw lived. Police had been called to the area around midnight for a report of shots fired but did not initially find anything suspicious. After discovering Shaw’s body they found that a brick had been thrown through a back window of his home, but no signs that the residence had been ransacked. An exact cause of death has not been revealed pending an autopsy. Indianola Police say they are looking for a “person of interest” who they describe as not being a suspect at this time.
