YAZOO CITY, Miss.–More than 50 cell phones, along with homemade chargers, plenty of marijuana, meth, alcohol, knives, homemade tattoo guns and WIFI hotspot modems were found during a surprise midnight shakedown at the Yazoo County Regional Correctional; Facility Thursday morning.
Sheriff Jeremy “Bull” McCoy says he and his officers have been fighting a constant battle over contraband at the jail and Thursday’s shakedown was the latest chapter in that story.
“This was another successful attempt to recover contraband that has made its way into the facility. We would like to thank all of the different agencies that came in to assist in this operation. Good things happen when agencies work together!!” read a Facebook post from the department.
Other agencies participating in the shakedown included the Humphreys, Bolivar, Sunflower sheriff’s departments and the Mississippi Highway Patrol, in addition to Yazoo County correctional officers.
The jail is a regional facility, meaning it houses prisoners from other jurisdictions, as well as those from Yazoo.
