Greenville, Miss. (AP) – Ray Harris, 29, of Greenville, has been arrested on a charge of Statutory Rape, according to a statement from the Greenville Police Department. Harris was accused of having sexual encounters with a minor over 10 times.
On Wednesday, April 27, 2022, the Greenville Police Department received a call from the Department of Human Services regarding the reported assault to a minor. After officers arrived, they spoke with the guardian of the child who claimed her 13-year-old grandchild had engaged in sexual activities with the suspect.
After an investigation, a warrant was issued for Harris’ arrest. On February 17, 2023, GPD officers arrested Harris without incident and booked him on the charge of Statutory Rape. He is currently being held at the Washington County Regional Correctional Facility, awaiting his initial court appearance.
