JACKSON, Miss. — The Mississippi Bureau of Investigation (MBI) has launched an investigation into an officer-involved shooting that took place on May 16th, 2023, near Bonita Lakes Drive in Meridian, Mississippi. The incident occurred at approximately 10:30 a.m. and involved the Meridian Police Department.
According to official reports, officers from the Meridian Police Department were dispatched to a residence in response to a call regarding a subject barricaded inside. Upon arrival, the individual reportedly brandished a weapon, threatening the officers. Thankfully, no law enforcement officers were harmed during the confrontation. However, the subject sustained fatal injuries.
In light of the gravity of the incident, the Mississippi Bureau of Investigation has taken charge of the case. MBI agents are currently conducting a thorough assessment of the critical incident and diligently gathering evidence to shed light on the sequence of events. The findings of the investigation will be shared with the Attorney General’s Office upon its completion.
