BELZONI, Miss.–When the feds began noticing that many of the guns that were being used in violent crimes in Chicago were coming from Mississippi, agents with the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, tracked some of those guns to Jarvis Hood, of Belzoni.
After a week-long trial, he’s been convicted on charges of conspiracy to run those guns to Chicago, and of lying to the licensees to purchase the weapons.
He was quick and efficient, showing expertise in the scheme. Some of the guns that were used in Illinois crimes had been purchased just one day prior in Mississippi.
Federal agents also say some of the guns had switches to convert them to fully automatic.
Now Hood, 23, will pay for his crimes, likely with prison time. His sentencing is set for Feb. 4.
