OXFORD, MS (Ben Caxton) — Plans to remove a Confederate monument on the campus of Ole Miss were delayed late last week after Mississippi’s Institutions of Higher Learning Board tabled a decision. The push to relocate the marble statue of a saluting Confederate soldier put up in 1906 has been going on for almost a year. The state department of archives and history approved the relocation plans in December. The university says moving the monument could take 90 days and cost $650,000.
