The proclamations allow city and county workers to enter private property to set sandbags to protect residential areas from flooding. As of late Wednesday, there had been no official reports of flooded homes but Greenwood is distributing sandbags to the public, and floodgates have been closed to prevent water from the Yazoo and Tallahatchie rivers from backing up into the pumps. The Yazoo River at Greenwood is expected to crest just below flood stage at 33.9 feet overnight tonight. [sc name=”twitterfollow”]
