Mississippi law limits absentee voting to people who will be out of town on Election Day or those who are 65 and older, but Watson says he will ask the Legislature to authorize in-person absentee voting during a state of emergency. Poll workers could be trained online and should include information about social distancing and sanitizing polling stations. He also said his office might allow some voting to be conducted outdoors.
