CLEVELAND, MS (Ben Caxton) — President Donald Trump on Thursday signed a declaration declaring several Delta counties a “major” disaster area after tornadoes swept through causing major damage in Cleveland, Greenville and nearby areas in the early morning hours of January 11. The disaster declaration orders federal assistance to supplement state and local recovery efforts. Goveror tate Reevs in a statement from Spain said “President Trump has been a tremendous partner for Mississippi” adding “Having a strong relationship with the President and his Administration means we can help our people when disaster strikes”. Besides Bolivar and Washington counties, the declaration includes Sunflower, Choctaw, Clay, DeSoto, Oktibbeha, Panola, Prentiss, and Tishomingo counties in Mississippi.
