TUNICA, Miss.–The shooting of Jermaine Jones last Tuesday, was apparently self-inflicted and was an accident, said Tunica County investigators.
Jones was found laying beside a car in the parking lot of an apartment complex on old Hwy. 61, about 11 p.m.
When deputies got there Jones, 22, of Tunica, was still alive. He died shortly after an ambulance arrived.
Deputies said they found a gun inside the car, which they now say belonged to Jones. They said the safety was off. Deputies did not say if anything else led them to their conclusion that the shooting was an accident.
Jones’ body was sent to the Mississippi State Crime Lab for an autopsy.
