A DeSoto County grand jury indicted Herb Brewer last week on an embezzlement charge. State Auditor Shad White says Brewer kept $1850 from sales of a 2007 Ford Mustang and a 2002 Chevrolet Tahoe. Whiteâs demand letter for $6940 includes interest and investigation charges. He also alleged that Brewer undercharged the buyers by more than $2700. Brewer served as Walls police chief from December 2014 to February 2019 and town officials reported irregularities after his resignation. If convicted Brewer faces a maximum penalty of five years in prison and a $5000 fine. [sc name=”twitterfollow”]
