JACKSON, MS (Ben Caxton) — The National Weather Service has confirmed that one of two tornadoes that first touched down in Jefferson Davis County over the weekend was the widest ever in Mississippi history, and the third widest ever recorded in the United States. The EF-4 had a width of 1-1/4 miles at its widest point. Surpassing a one and three-quarters mile EF-4 that struck Yazoo County in 2010. The NWS also announced Thursday two additional storm-related deaths bringing the total from Mississippi’s Easter storm outbreak to 14.
