Winds Damage Nearly 100 Homes in Wednesday Storms

JACKSON, MS (Ben Caxton) — At least 90 homes were damaged and by storms that blew through central Mississippi on Wednesday. Most of the damage occurred in Madison and Rankin Counties near Jackson where strong winds toppled trees onto some vehicles and peeled roofs off of buildings. A steeple was torn off a church in the town of Flora, hail fell near a Nissan manufacturing plant and the front of a building was ripped off in Canton. Over 20,000 residents were without electricity and schools in Madison County and Canton were closed Wednesday because of power outages and fallen trees.
