LITTLE ROCK, AR (Ben Caxton) — 27 Arkansas residents have died from the flu this season. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention estimates there have been 6600 flu deaths nationwide including 39 pediatric deaths this season, and cases have been reported in 39 states. Flu activity in Arkansas is widespread and over 13% of the state’s positive influenza tests have been reported in the last week. The Arkansas Department of Health says two schools closed briefly and at least two nursing homes have reported outbreaks of flu since September.
