YAZOO CITY, Miss.–A hostage situation that began at 2 a.m. Monday was resolved by late morning, without anyone being hurt, said Yazoo County deputies.

A news release from the Sheriff’s Dept., says a dispatcher got a call at 2 where they could hear a man that was “very upset” and several other people “in distress” in the background. Deputies went to Oakhaven Apartments, where they discovered the guy holed up, refusing to come out.
They made several attempts to get him out of the apartment. Those deputies discovered he had two female hostages.
They were able to effect an escape for the hostages by boring a hole in the wall from an adjacent apartment. Once the women were out the man had little leverage left.
He gave up by late morning. The news release did not say what charges he may be facing.
