Delta State University’s Counselor Education program will host the 43rd Annual F. E. Woodall Conference for the Helping Professions on Friday, April 4. This conference serves as a platform for professionals from various fields to exchange knowledge, explore innovative practices, and foster collaboration.

The conference is named in honor of Dr. Fred E. Woodall, a leading figure in counselor education, and celebrates his contributions to the field.

This year’s event will feature two prominent keynote speakers. Dr. Jonathan Barlow, Director and Assistant Teaching Professor at Mississippi State University’s Data Science Academic Institute, will address “AI and the Helping Professions: The Productive and Ethical Integration of Artificial Intelligence.” Dr. Barlow brings over 23 years of experience in software development, data science, and artificial intelligence research.

Dr. Carl Sheperis, Vice Provost and Dean of Graduate Studies at Kutztown University of Pennsylvania, will also speak on the intersection of artificial intelligence and health professions. Sheperis is an expert in AI’s application to health care and has served on the AI working group for the National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine.

In addition to the keynote speakers, the conference will feature Dr. Donna Sheperis as a guest speaker.
