CLARKSDALE, Miss.–The race for mayor of Clarksdale will be decided in a runoff. That means none of the candidates won outright, with 51 percent of the vote.

The top two candidates were Bubba O’Keefe, with 733 votes and Orlando W. Paden with 687.

The unofficial results were read by members of the Democratic party once votes were counted Tuesday.

Mayor Chuck Espy was not running for a third term.

Jimmy Harris was the only commissioner to win the primary outright. He is the commissioner of Ward 2. “Bo” Plunk and Ray Sykes are headed for a runoff for Ward 1, as are Willie Turner and Eddie Earl in Ward 3 and Linda Downing and Kim Seals in Ward 4.

The runoff is April 22.
