CLEVELAND, Miss. — Delta State University hosted the Mississippi Board of Trustees of Institutions of Higher Learning (IHL) for its monthly meeting on June 18–19.
The 12-member board, along with Commissioner Al Rankins, IHL staff, and university leaders from across the state, gathered to discuss higher education policy, funding, and strategic planning. Working groups met throughout the day Wednesday in Kent Wyatt Hall and the Hugh Ellis Walker Alumni-Foundation House. The full board meeting was held Thursday morning at the H.L. Nowell Student Union.
Delta State President Dr. Daniel J. Ennis welcomed attendees as the university prepares to celebrate its 100th anniversary.
“100 years ago, on this very spot, Delta State’s first faculty were getting ready to welcome Delta State’s first students,” Ennis said. “We are proud of what they built, and what we have continued.”
Faculty, staff, and students were invited to observe the proceedings. University officials say they were proud to showcase the campus and hospitality to visitors from across Mississippi’s higher education system.
