MOORHEAD, Miss. — Mississippi Delta Community College has opened a new Center for Teaching and Learning to enhance instructional quality and support professional development for educators across its campuses.

The center, which began operations July 1 at the Horton Building in Moorhead, will serve as a hub for faculty development, mentorship, and innovation in teaching practices. Jenni Hargett, a veteran educator with nearly 20 years of experience in the Delta, will lead the center.

“The Center for Teaching and Learning represents a commitment to excellence in education and our belief that great teaching transforms lives,” Hargett said.

The center will offer monthly programming for faculty teaching in traditional, online, dual credit, and correctional education settings. It will also host workshops for regional K–12 educators, including Praxis prep and ethics training.

MDCC Provost Dr. Valarie Morgan said the initiative reflects the college’s investment in high-quality instruction and lifelong learning for faculty.

MDCC President Dr. Steven Jones praised the center as a bold step forward for both the college and its school district partners.

“This new initiative opens doors for new partnerships,” Jones said. “MDCC is on the move.”
