Deputies Respond to Shooting Threat at Yazoo City Pool Party

YAZOO CITY, Miss.–A threat against people attending a pool party in Yazoo City had deputies patrolling at the party Sunday.

The party and other events were happening Sunday at the Wardell Leach Recreational Complex.

“We heard there was a threat, that they were coming to shoot up the party or what not. So, we made sure that we were here to stop that,” said a deputy in a video posted to the Sheriff’s Dept. Facebook page.

The exact nature of the threat was unclear. But, deputies were both checking for weapons and were patrolling the fence perimeter to make sure no one was able to sneak in.

Four juveniles were shot inside the city limits over the weekend. It was unclear if that was related to the threat.

Yazoo City has had an on-going feud between “east side” and “west side” gangs over the past several years.
