MOUND BAYOU, Miss. — A Renova woman was injured early Saturday morning in a drive-by shooting on Old Highway 61 in Bolivar County, authorities said.
Deputies with the Bolivar County Sheriff’s Office responded to reports of gunfire at approximately 2:40 a.m. on Aug. 30 in the area of Old Highway 61 South. When they arrived, they found Kailah Smith suffering from a gunshot wound to the leg.
According to investigators, Smith and several friends were traveling southbound when a black Dodge Charger and a red sports car approached at a high rate of speed and began shooting. The vehicle Smith was in was struck multiple times.
Smith was transported to Bolivar Medical Center, where she is listed in stable condition.
