MOUND BAYOU, Miss. — Mound Bayou Mayor Leighton Aldridge recently attended the Mississippi Municipal League’s 2025 Small Town Conference in Philadelphia, Mississippi, which brought together local leaders from across the state to share ideas and address challenges facing smaller communities.
The two-day conference featured Certified Municipal Official education sessions, concurrent breakout sessions, and general session presentations. Speakers included representatives from the Mississippi Main Street Association, Mississippi Society of CPAs, Mississippi State University’s Fred Carl Jr. Small Town Center, the Mississippi Insurance Department, MSU Extension Center for Government and Community Development, and the Mississippi Urban Forest Council.
Attendees also received updates from the Mississippi State Auditor’s Office on municipal audit requirements.
A welcome reception sponsored by Pearl River Resort and Philadelphia Main Street was held Oct. 15 at the Silver Star Casino & Resort, where approximately 400 municipal officials gathered.
