CLARKSDALE, Miss. — Clarksdale police are urging residents to take precautions after recent reports of vehicle robberies occurring during late evening and nighttime hours, officials announced Tuesday.
In a public alert, the Clarksdale Police Department advised residents to remove all valuables from vehicles and avoid leaving bags, electronics, wallets or weapons inside, whether visible or hidden. Officers also reminded drivers to lock their vehicles every time and never leave them running unattended.
Police are asking residents to report any suspicious activity immediately.
The department said patrols have been increased and investigators are pursuing all leads connected to the recent incidents.
“Anyone preying on our citizens will be caught, identified and prosecuted to the full extent of the law,” the department said in its statement.
Residents are urged to stay alert and take steps to protect their property as police work to prevent additional crimes.
