TUNICA COUNTY, Miss. — An 82-year-old Sledge woman has been charged with murder after telling authorities she shot her boyfriend Tuesday afternoon, according to the Tunica County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies responded to a 911 call around 3:15 p.m. on Dec. 2 reporting a shooting at a residence on Tibbs Road. The caller, later identified as Mattie Crockett, told dispatchers she had shot her boyfriend.

When deputies and Pafford Emergency Medical Services arrived, they found 75-year-old James Larry Jr. of Sledge with a fatal gunshot wound. He was pronounced dead at the scene by the Tunica County coroner.
Deputies located Crockett at the residence. She was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment, released and later transported to the Tunica County Jail.

Crockett appeared before a judge on Wednesday and was issued a $100,000 bond.
